Android for my MDA Compact IV (HTC Diamond)

Bild
Sometimes you tumble over software-projects that make really incredible toys for a geek. This time it was XDAndroid for me, an Android-Distribution for my slightly aging Smartphone. It allows to install Android parallel to Windows-Mobile on the internal storage/storage card of many HTC phone (excluding the HTC HD2, which has a different (newer) CPU-Plattform). You can find it at: http://xdandroid.com/wiki/Main_Page (not my phone, just as an example :) ) Works really nicely, except for some small pieces. I especially like the exchange-enabled calendar and the broad availability of Apps :)

Ubuntu on a Bitlocker-protected environment

The world has become much simpler these days. One good example is the sheer simplicity, with which you can by now install an Ubuntu 10.04 on a machine that already has Windows 7 (no big news here) and where Windows is protected by Bitlocker and TPM-integration (that is new :) ) Some easy steps: Install Windows 7 to your liking Encrypt your system using Bitlocker, also using TPM. I guess most readers interested in installing Ubuntu will start with the above setup. Now modify the system to allow a Ubuntu install: Shrink your encrypted partition, for example I freed up about 40GB for my new Ubuntu "Stop" Bitlocker (that is: Temporarily store the encryption key outside the TPM - you do NOT need to decrypt the drive.) - Your Action-Center will alarm you, that this is a risk. Install Ubuntu 10.04 into the freed up disk space, allow installation of grub in MBR Boot Windows an "Resume" Bitlocker (i.e. enable TPM) Be aware: This works just fine, as long as there is

XenApp 6 + Provisioning

Hi, some folks asked me, if Citrix Provisioning Services already works with XenApp 6. Basically: Yes, it does. :) Some hints: You don't need XenAppPrep anymore! Avoid having MSMQ in your XenApp if you want to provision it, so this means no EdgeSight and no SmartAuditor right now. Turn off Windows Firewall If you have trouble using Citrix App Streaming, remove it and reinstall it after the transition from local install to vDisk. Have fun with your "only-add-water"-XenApp-Servers! :)
